Green Mango Chutney

It is called thecha too. Thecha is a Maharashtrian condiment which is a spicy chutney. It has many variants but the primary ingredients are green or red chilies, peanuts, cumin and garlic. This is a very easy, simple and delicious recipe made with fresh green mango.


  • 1 green mango
  • Fistful of raw peanuts
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds

  • Salt
  • ¼ cup curry leaves
  • 4-5 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp oil


  • Wash, dry, peel and cut the green mango into small cubes and keep it aside
  • In a pan, add oil and heat it
  • First add green chilies to it and let them cook for 30-40 seconds
  • Next add peanuts and fry them until color changes to golden
  • Add curry leaves and garlic cloves

  • Continue frying all the ingredients
  • Lastly add cumin seeds to it
  • Once all the ingredients fry well, turn off the stove
  • Let it cool down
  • Grind green mango cubes and roasted ingredients together by adding salt
  • Make sure it is coarse in texture
  • Enjoy it with roti!
