It is called thecha too. Thecha is a Maharashtrian condiment which is a spicy chutney. It has many variants but the primary ingredients are green or red chilies, peanuts, cumin and garlic. This is a very easy, simple and delicious recipe made with fresh green mango.
Ingredients:
- 1 green mango
- Fistful of raw peanuts
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- Salt
- ¼ cup curry leaves
- 4-5 green chilies
- 1 tbsp oil
Method:
- Wash, dry, peel and cut the green mango into small cubes and keep it aside
- In a pan, add oil and heat it
- First add green chilies to it and let them cook for 30-40 seconds
- Next add peanuts and fry them until color changes to golden
- Add curry leaves and garlic cloves
- Continue frying all the ingredients
- Lastly add cumin seeds to it
- Once all the ingredients fry well, turn off the stove
- Let it cool down
- Grind green mango cubes and roasted ingredients together by adding salt
- Make sure it is coarse in texture
- Enjoy it with roti!
