
Tomato peanut chutney is a yummy, creamy chutney goes well with idli and dosa. It is usually made as flowy consistency.
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup raw peanuts
- ½ cup chopped onion
- ½ cup cubed tomato (2 medium sided tomatoes)
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- 1 inch ginger
- 1 tbsp chana dal
- 1 tbsp urad dal
- 2-3 dried red chili
- Tamarind
- 1 tsp jaggery
- Salt
- Oil

- For tempering: oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves (optional)
Method:
- In a pan, add oil and fry peanuts until changes color
- Add urad and chana dal and roast until they become darker
- Then add garlic cloves and ginger and continue roasting the mixture
- Add chopped onions and dry chilies
- Then add tamarind to the mixture
- Once onion turns golden, add chopped tomatoes
- Cook the mixture until tomato softens
- Cool down the mixture


- Grind the mixture to smooth paste by adding jaggery, salt and ½ cup water
- Transfer the paste to a pot, adjust the consistency by adding water
- Add tempering to it: in a small pan, heat oil and add mustard and cumin seeds to oil, let them pop and add this tempering to chutney
- Mix well and enjoy.
