Dahi Toast


This is an easy breakfast recipe which has tangier and spicier taste.

Ingredients:

  • 5-6 bread slices
  • 1 cup plain yogurt/dahi
  • ¼ cup chopped onions
  • Chopped cilantro
  • 1 green chili

  • Salt
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper powder
  • Olive oil
  • For tempering: Ghee or oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, finely chopped garlic (3-4 cloves)

Method:

  • Whisk dahi and add chopped onion, cilantro, finely cut green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, black pepper powder
  • Mix well and keep it aside
  • In a small pan, add ghee or oil and heat it
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop
  • Add finely chopped garlic and saute until it changes color
  • Add this tempering to dahi mixture
  • Mix well

  • Take a pan, grease it with oil or spray it
  • Take one bread slice at a time, dip it into the dahi mixture
  • Make sure both sides are coated well with the dahi mixture
  • Add it to the heated pan
  • Cook until the underside is lightly browned
  • Flip it with a spatula and cook until the other side is browned
  • Transfer the toast to a plate
  • Cook all remaining bread slices in similar way
  • Enjoy tangier and spicier dahi toasts!
