Dahi Sabudana is a traditional Maharashtrian fasting recipe. Easy to make and is gluten-free. It is made from tapioca pearls (sago), yogurt, crushed peanuts and spiced with green chilies and cumin.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Sabudana/Sago/Tapioca pearls
- 1 cup plain yogurt/dahi
- 2 green chilies
- ¼ cup roasted peanut powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp ghee or oil
- Salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
Method:
- Dry roast sabudana on low flame until they change color
- Wash twice with water and drain the water
- Make buttermilk by adding 1 tbsp curd to 1 cup water
- Add pinch of salt to buttermilk and soak sabudana in buttermilk for 2 hours (or until sago grains soften)
- Add yogurt, salt, sugar and peanut powder to sago and mix well
- In a small pan, add ghee/oil and heat it
- Once it is hot, add cumin seeds and green chili pieces
- Once cumin seeds crackle, turn off the stove and add this tempering to sabudana+ yogurt mixture
- Mix well and enjoy!
