Ingredients:
- 2 cups Ridge gourd pieces
- 1 cup Moong dal
- 4-5 Garlic cloves
- 1 fistful curry leaves
- 2 tbs oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- Salt
- Jaggery (optional)
Method:
- Wash, peel the ridge gourd
- Cut it into cubes
- Cut garlic cloves into small pieces
- Take a pan, add oil and heat it
- Add mustard and cumin seeds and let them crackle
- Add garlic pieces and then curry leaves
- Once garlic pieces start changing color, add ridge gourd pieces as well as moong dal
- Mix well
- Add turmeric powder and cover it with lid
- Once water starts depositing on under surface of lid, add water
- Mix well and cook the mixture while stirring intermittently
- Once gourd pieces turn soft and daal cooks well, add red chili powder, salt and jaggery
- Cook it for another 1-2 minutes and turn off the stove
