Pav Bhaji is one of the popular street foods. Pav means bread roll and bhaji means vegetable dish. In place of pav, you can use dinner rolls or bread slices.
Ingredients:
- Bread rolls/Pav 8
- Butter 2 tbs
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 3 tomato (finely chopped)
- ¼ cup green peas
- ¼ cup green beans
- ¼ cup carrot cubes
- ¼ cup cauliflower
- ½ cup green bell pepper/capsicum (finely chopped)
- 2 potatoes
- Salt
- 1tsp red chili powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp pav bhaji masala
- Coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- ½ lemon juice
- Readymade pav-bhaji masala 2 tbs (easily available in Indian stores)
- You can add a small piece of beetroot or artificial red color if you want
Method:
- Wash and cut all vegetables-potatoes, cauliflower, bell pepper, tomatoes, carrots. Add green peas. Cook all vegetables with a small amount of water in a pressure cooker. Mash them together.
- Take a pan. Add butter and heat it.
- Then add finely chopped onion (half amount only, remaining half for garnishing) and cook until it turns golden.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, Pav-bhaji masala, salt, and lemon juice.
- Add mashed vegetables. Mix and cook it for 5-7 minutes.
- Red food color can be used at this point if interested.
- Apply butter to pav and roast it on the pan until crispy. You can sprinkle pav-bhaji masala on pav for extra flavor.
- Serve pav with bhaji along with finely chopped onion and cilantro.
