Methi flavored rice dish is also known as methi pulao. It is a one-dish meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice, soaked for 15 in and drained
- 1/12 cup finely chopped fresh methi leaves
- 1 tsp finely chopped garlic
- ½ medium onion- thinly sliced
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp oil
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 1 tsp red chili powder or green chili paste
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
- ½ cup chopped cilantro
Method:
- Take a pan.
- Add butter and oil to it and heat.
- Add bay leaves and cumin seeds.
- Add garlic and saute for a minute.
- Add chopped onions and cook until it turns golden
- Add green chili paste or red chili powder
- Add methi leaves, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add drained basmati rice, mix well and cover the lid. Let it cook on steam for 2-3 minutes.
- Open the lid. Add salt, lemon juice (optional)
- Add 2 cups of water and cook until rice cooks well. You can use a pressure cooker or stovetop or instant pot.
- Serve hot after garnishing with chopped cilantro.
