Ginger paste is a versatile ingredient of Indian cooking. Homemade ginger paste is fresh, all-natural, and easy to make. You can freeze the ginger paste and store for up to 4-5 months.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ginger cubes
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp hing
Method:
- Wash the fresh ginger and remove any bad or dried-out spots
- Peeling the ginger is optional (I do not peel it)
- Cut the ginger into small cubes
- Throw it in a blender along with salt and hing
- If the paste seems overly dry, add some olive oil
- Grind it to a smooth paste
- Take an aluminum foil, add paste to it and spread evenly with the spoon
- You can remove excess water from the paste if you want
- Freeze it for one hour
- Take it out of the freezer and with knife or pizza cutter, cut into small squares
- Place it in the freezer for one day
- Lastly, separate the squares with hands and store them into either a zip lock bag or a glass jar
- This way, fresh ginger paste will be handy for few months.
