Tomato Curry


Tomato curry is a very simple but delicious curry with tangy-spicy-sweetish taste.

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 Tomatoes
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 9-10 curry leaves
  • Cilantro
  • 1-inch ginger
  • Salt
  • Jaggery
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp hing
  • Oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala

Method:

  • Wash, dry tomatoes and cut into small cubes
  • Chop onions
  • Take a pot, add oil and heat it
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let them crackle
  • Add hing, curry leaves and ginger paste
  • Saute until it changes color slightly and rawness goes away

  • Add chopped onion and fry it until it becomes translucent
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, garam masala and mix
  • Lastly add tomato pieces, mix and cook it with lid on
  • Add jaggery and cilantro
  • Tomato pieces should cook to mushy texture
  • Adjust salt, and serve hot with rice, dosa or roti.
