Whole wheat chapati is an Indian flatbread. It is very healthy. You can use multi-grain atta (flour) in place of wheat flour too.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 tbs oil
- Salt
Method:
- Take wheat flour in a large bowl, add 1 tbs oil and ½ tsp salt. Mix well.
- Add water slowly and start kneading. Knead to a smooth and soft dough.
- Apply some oil on the surface of the dough and rest for 20 minutes.
- Make balls from the kneaded dough.
- Take a dough ball, sprinkle some wheat flour and roll it into a thin circle.
- Add ½ tsp oil and spread it on the thin circle of roti.
- Sprinkle dry wheat flour and fold it into half.
- Again, repeat the step: spread oil over the folded roti, sprinkle flour, and fold it again.
- This will create layers in chapati. (You can skip this step if you want and just roll the dough ball to rounded roti, apply oil and cook on the pan).
- Now, sprinkle some flour on the rolling surface, place the folded roti, and sprinkle flour over it.
- Start rolling with the rolling pin slowly to make it a round roti.
- Apply some oil to the top surface and transfer the rolled roti to a heated flat pan and apply some oil on the top surface.
- Flip it and apply oil on another side too.
