Tofu Tikka Masala

Tofu, also known as bean curd, is a food prepared by curdling soy milk and forming it into a solid block. It is the meat alternative, has protein, fiber, and healthy fats.

You can make this curry similar to paneer tikka masala.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cubed Tofu
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 4 green cardamom
  • 2-inch cinnamon
  • 1 big onion-chopped finely
  • Tomato puree of 2 medium tomatoes

  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ cup milk cream or heavy whipping cream
  • Oil and/or butter

Method:

Press tofu with some heavy object for 20 minutes. This will drain the excess moisture. Now cut the tofu into cubes.

  • Make puree from tomatoes and keep it aside

  • Add minced ginger and garlic paste and fry them
  • Add finely chopped onion and cook it until it becomes translucent
  • Add turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder and cook for 1 more minute
  • Add tomato puree, mix well, cover, and cook for another 3-4 minutes
  • Add besan to it and mix well. You can use coconut milk instead of besan.
  • Add water and adjust salt and red chili powder.
  • Once the oil/butter starts separating, add either milk cream (malai) or heavy whipping cream.
  • Mix well, cover, and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Lastly, add fried tofu cubes, mix well, and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot with naan, roti, or rice.
