Tofu is made from soy milk. It is low in calories but high in protein and fat. It also contains many important vitamins and minerals including calcium and manganese. Tandoori tofu is a dish of tofu that is marinated in yogurt and Indian spices and then cooked.
Ingredients:
- 1 block firm or extra firm tofu
- 1/4 cup Yogurt/dahi
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- Oil
- Dried Fenugreek leaves/Kasoori methi
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- Onion (you can use red, yellow, orange bell peppers too)
Method:
- Place that block of extra-firm tofu on a clean surface and press out the extra moisture
- Cut it into cubes
- Cut onion into cubes (you can add bell peppers too)
- Take oil and add all the spices, dried fenugreek leaves, yogurt and mix well
- Now, gently add tofu, onion pieces to it
- Coat the tofu in the marinade
- Let it marinate for as long as possible (min 2 hours to overnight)
- Take a pan, add oil and heat it
- Add tofu cubes and onion pieces one by one to the pan
- Turn them with tongs until all sides become golden brown
- Serve hot!
