Oats Chilla


Chilla is an Indian version of a pancake. Oats chilla is savory pancakes made with oats, chickpea flour (besan), spices, and herbs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 tbs Chickpea flour
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2-3 green chili
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • oil

Method:

  • Grind the oats to a slightly coarse powder
  • Add besan, salt, onion, green chili pieces, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and cilantro.
  • Mix well and make the batter by adding water
  • Leave it for 20 minutes
  • Take a pan, heat it, smear oil, and pour some batter over it.
  • Spread evenly with a spoon/ladle
  • Add ½ tsp oil around the edges
  • Cook until the base is firm and light brown
  • Flip it and let it cook well on both sides
  • Serve chilla hot with either butter, chutney, or ketchup.
