Chilla is an Indian version of a pancake. Oats chilla is savory pancakes made with oats, chickpea flour (besan), spices, and herbs.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oats
- 1 tbs Chickpea flour
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 2-3 green chili
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt
- 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- oil
Method:
- Grind the oats to a slightly coarse powder
- Add besan, salt, onion, green chili pieces, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and cilantro.
- Mix well and make the batter by adding water
- Leave it for 20 minutes
- Take a pan, heat it, smear oil, and pour some batter over it.
- Spread evenly with a spoon/ladle
- Add ½ tsp oil around the edges
- Cook until the base is firm and light brown
- Flip it and let it cook well on both sides
- Serve chilla hot with either butter, chutney, or ketchup.
