Khakra is a thin cracker/crisp roti common in the Gujarati cuisine of western India. It can be done starting from scratch and making it from wheat flour. I make it with already made wheat flatbreads (chapatis or roti)-homemade or store-bought rotis. This is the perfect recipe for leftover rotis.
Ingredients:
- Rotis
- Oil
Method:
- Take a flat pan which is used for making roti.
- Once the pan is hot, place a roti on it and smear some oil on the surface of the roti
- Using a wooden press, press the roti and turn in a circular motion.
- Continue this pressing and turning for a few minutes on medium heat
- Flip over, continue pressing, and turning on medium heat until the Khakra is completely crisp
- Khakra can be eaten with curries or any dips. Or smear some oil on the surface of khakra and sprinkle spicy peanut chutney powder over it and eat.
