Very easy but delicious basmati rice dish, served along with dal-fry. Jeera means cumin seeds. This dish does not have any vegetables but only whole spices.
Ingredients:
- Basmati rice 2 cups
- Cashews 12-15 fried
- Salt
- Butter 2 tbs
- 3-4 bay leaves
- 1-inch cinnamon
- 3-4 cloves
- 3 black cardamoms
- 4-5 small cardamoms
- 4-5 peppercorns
- ½ tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
- 1-2-star anise
Method–
- Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes-1 hour. Drain and keep aside.
- Heat butter and fry cashews and put them aside.
- In the same butter add all the whole spices mentioned above. Saute them.
- Take drained rice, add 4 cups water, salt, and sautéed whole spices to it.
- Cook rice like you cook always (pressure cooker, rice cooker, instant pot, or on the stove).
- Garnish jeera rice with fried cashew.
- Serve it with dal fry.
