Raita is known as Koshimbir in Marathi. It is an Indian yogurt (curd) dip served with biryani.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • ½ cup chopped or grated cucumber
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • ¼ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt

Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl. Add salt as per your taste.

For more flavor, add tadka (tempering) to it: heat 1 tsp oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, hing, and add it to the raita bowl.

Chill raita, covered, until ready to serve.
