Broccoli Oats Chilla


Chilla is an Indian version of a savory pancake. Broccoli oats chilla is a weight loss recipe made with broccoli, oats, chickpea flour (besan), semolina, curd, spices, and herbs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats
  • 2-3 tbsp Chickpea flour
  • ½ cup semolina
  • ½ cup curd (plain yogurt)
  • ½ tsp red chili powder (optional)
  • 2 cups broccoli (either fresh or frozen)
  • 2-3 green chili
  • 1-inch ginger
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • Salt
  • 1.5 tsp cumin seeds

Method:

  • Grind the oats to a slightly coarse powder
  • Pulse broccoli in a grinder or food processor
  • Crush ginger and green chili to coarse paste

  • Mix besan, oats powder, broccoli, curd, semolina, salt, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and green chili-ginger paste
  • Make a batter by adding water to make it pourable consistency
  • Cover and keep it aside for 15 minutes
  • Semolina and oats absorb water
  • If needed, add more water, adjust the salt and mix well

  • Take a pan, heat it, smear oil, and pour some batter over it.
  • Spread evenly with a spoon/ladle
  • Add ½ tsp oil around the edges
  • Cook until the base is firm and light brown
  • Flip it and let it cook well on both sides
  • Serve chilla hot with either butter, chutney, or ketchup.
