Chilla is an Indian version of a savory pancake. Broccoli oats chilla is a weight loss recipe made with broccoli, oats, chickpea flour (besan), semolina, curd, spices, and herbs.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oats
- 2-3 tbsp Chickpea flour
- ½ cup semolina
- ½ cup curd (plain yogurt)
- ½ tsp red chili powder (optional)
- 2 cups broccoli (either fresh or frozen)
- 2-3 green chili
- 1-inch ginger
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- Salt
- 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
Method:
- Grind the oats to a slightly coarse powder
- Pulse broccoli in a grinder or food processor
- Crush ginger and green chili to coarse paste
- Mix besan, oats powder, broccoli, curd, semolina, salt, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and green chili-ginger paste
- Make a batter by adding water to make it pourable consistency
- Cover and keep it aside for 15 minutes
- Semolina and oats absorb water
- If needed, add more water, adjust the salt and mix well
- Take a pan, heat it, smear oil, and pour some batter over it.
- Spread evenly with a spoon/ladle
- Add ½ tsp oil around the edges
- Cook until the base is firm and light brown
- Flip it and let it cook well on both sides
- Serve chilla hot with either butter, chutney, or ketchup.
